Susan Sweeney is an abstract expressionist artist and Ed Tech consultant based in Dublin. Susan presented her academic paper at the Constuctionism conference 2023 at Columbia University in New York. She also presented a 90 minute lecture about storytelling and archetypes to students at the Le Pôle Léonard de Vinci University in Paris in March, 2024. A graduate of the pioneering Radio & TV production course at Ballyfermot College she holds a BA(Hons) in AV Communications from Technological University Dublin and an MSc in IT in Education from Trinity College Dublin. 

An exhibited photographer, she was shortlisted for the Galleries Without Walls exhibition in 2021. Susan's main area of research and practice involves the introduction of new technologies and development of visual literacy to all disciplines at third level including data science and business. Her latest published papers Involves #BrainArt looking at EEG Brainwaves and brain maps and #CyborgArt with embedded wearable technology. Susan is a pioneer in the use of VR in education and is a member of the judging panel for AI Ireland.

She received a scholarship from the Eckhart Tolle foundation for her contribution to raising conscious awareness in the classroom using meditation practices. Susan received a Francis Ledwidge award in 2021 for her poetry and read at the National War Memorial Gardens and Kilmainham Gaol Dublin. She won an artist residency at the Cill Rialaig Artists Centre in Co. Kerry, 2022. 

Susan's photography exhibition Ekphrasis 2020 featured a collection of  images and video clips. The Exhibition provides a journey through 29 images. Each image is accompanied by a Haiku ekphrastic poem commissioned by the Artist. 

Susan's new ambitious exhibition Ekstasis 2025 features large scale abstract expressionist paintings with poetic narrative and projected photo-realistic imagery. Susan is looking at launching Ekphrasis NYC her New York exhibition in December 2024.
